How to Not Go Back to Your Old Habits After Ramadan?

Ramadan is almost over and soon you might also lose the zest to offer your five daily prayers and read Qur’an. Moreover, with the Shaytan let loose you might again start struggling with your urges and desires. But I tell you what, don’t go back to square zero. Don’t drain down your efforts by following the Shaytan. You can do better and you can continue with your Ramadan spirits with these few simple steps.

You Can Still Stay Determined

If you are determined enough to go all Ramadan reading Quran, pray your daily prayers as well as waking up to pray in the middle of the night, then Voila! You can do it after Ramadan as well. You don’t have to wait for the next Ramadan to start it all over again. In fact you should not even wait for the next Ramadan because there is no guarantee of any of our lives. So you better hold onto the train you had it fueled so much to run it on high speed and at least keep it running now.

Make yourself promise to wake up for Fajr every single day from now onwards. In addition to that, fast for 6 days during the month of Shawwal so it will further help you get back to your Ramadan routine. Furthermore, stay determined to not commit any sin just like you were during Ramadan because if you have done it in Ramadan then you are strong enough to do it now as well.

At Least Two Pages of Qur’an A Day

Yes, don’t leave the words of Allah. Reciting Qur’an purifies your soul. Many of you listen to songs and say that it soothes your mind and soul. Well, we do know music is considered Haram in Islam and with the lyrics the songs have these days, you don’t even know what unconscious affects it has on your mind.

So don’t stop reading Qur’an. Just two pages a day and it will be a ten times better healer to your mind and body than the nuisance and pathetic songs that are made these days.

Tahajjud During Weekends

With school, university or work, it might be difficult for you to wake up every day for Tahajjud so keep it for the weekends at least. You anyways utilize your weekends for leisure and relaxation activities, so why not take some time out for a secret conversation with your Lord. Trust me it will keep you relaxed for the rest of the week even if the work load during the weekday is at its peak.

Make Du’a For Your Piety

This is extremely important. Make Du’a to Allah to accept your religious activities and to help you in the path of piety. We supplicate to Allah for all sorts of worldly pleasures but that only satisfies us in this world. For once supplicate for something that will be a reward for you in the Hereafter.

So you see it’s that simple! Just these simple four steps and you are on your way to a beautiful Aakhirah. Insha Allah.

JazakAllah Khairun Kaseerun.
